the idea

Most kids' learning apps are built for engagement metrics, not learning. Evren is montessori-inspired and follows a singapore math progression, built iPad-first for kids who can't read yet. Everything is taught visually: ten frames, bead chains and number bonds.

what i built

  • a complete first system, numbers 1–20: counting, splitting numbers, number bond addition and subtraction, and place value up to 100.
  • progressive checkpoints: each module has several checkpoints of increasing difficulty that unlock in sequence, with progress saved on the device.
  • installable web app: works offline on a tablet, no app store required.

what's next

A reboot into a karate-style video game built with phaser: kids earn belts as they master skills, an adaptive tutor adjusts difficulty, and grading stays deterministic. The first playable scenes and a custom 16-bit sprite pipeline are in place.
